Welsh Conservative Party Candidate/Ymgeisydd Plaid Geidwadol Cymru
Force area:
South Wales
Caroline Yvonne Jones
Election statement:
South Wales encompasses vibrant communities that face many challenges in the 21st Century. A modern police force needs to adapt to meet these challenges and I believe I am in a position to look at these from a fresh perspective. This is why I am standing as your Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate.
I was born and have lived in South Wales all my life. I trained as a teacher, worked in the Prison Service with young offenders and currently run small businesses in Bridgend and Porthcawl.
My priorities are:
Reform – because we need to change the way we deliver our services in South Wales by ensuring our police are out on the beat, not sat behind desks.
Reduce - because we need to reduce crime, particularly anti-social behaviour, which is a blight on our communities.
Relevant – because we need to ensure South Wales is a modern police force relevant to policing in the 21st Century and meets the needs and aspirations of local communities.
And finally, Redress the balance – because we need to look after the victims of crime who are all too often the silent minority. If elected, I pledge to give 10% of my salary before tax, to those organisations dealing with victims of crime and crime prevention. I would work with members of local communities to decide how and where that money is spent.
We have a big challenge ahead of us to improve policing across South Wales. I ask for your support on Thursday 15th November because together, we can make a difference.
