I am Linda Belgrove, an Independent Candidate.
I believe politics must be kept out of policing.
I have worked with the public and police on a daily basis.
I have made decisions at the highest levels of policing governance.
I proved my independence and proactive abilities whilst serving as an Independent Member of Essex Police Authority, latterly as Vice Chair.
All crime whether national or local has to be addressed.
Victims of crime must be supported.
I will be the voice of reason, in ensuring the people of Essex and Essex Police have a say in how policing is run in these uncertain times.
The “night time economy” is a huge financial drain to many including Essex Police. People will be held responsible for their behaviour and anti-social crime will have consequences.
I will insist the police properly address domestic abuse and sexual violence.
I will serve the people of Essex impartially, whatever their background or diverse lifestyle choices.
Victims of hate crime will be supported.
I will press for further improvements to road safety.
I fully support Neighbourhood Policing. People want police in their towns and villages, who know their patch. It must not be a response-only service.
The Special Constabulary must be valued and deployed appropriately.
Volunteers are pivotal in the fight against crime and I will support effective voluntary groups.
I will ensure the Criminal Justice System meets the needs of our communities by developing new methods of consultation, not exclusively Internet based.
As the Commissioner I will be open, transparent and accessible.
We have high standards in Essex. All residents including the police must be treated fairly and with respect.
These are my first priorities as Police and Crime Commissioner.
