Election statement:

My background is in business, I am used to running large organisations with multi million pound budgets and where I developed the excellent communication skills required of the PCC.

I’ve been a member of Dorset Police Authority for 5½ years and know intimately the challenges facing Dorset Police, its strengths and also, more importantly, weaknesses.

If I am elected PCC my priority will be to cut crime.  I’ll do this by:

Creating closer links between the Police and our community - The police should recognise that over 95% of the public are law abiding and on their side.

Supporting Safer Neighbourhood Policing – I‘ll ensure the current system of Safer Neighbourhood Teams remains in place.

Supporting Special Constables – I’d provide a Council Tax rebate to encourage people to become Special Constables.

Creating village policemen – Establishing a network of Special Constables in each of our rural parishes.

Cutting red tape and bureaucracy – finding innovative ideas to bring officers out of their offices and on to the streets.

Improving cooperation  - between the Police and public sector to find financial savings.

Improving the relationship between Dorset Police and Neighbourhood Watch - I‘d employ staff to liaise with watches, improve ringmaster and encourage new groups.

Encouraging volunteers Both in the Police and when delivering community safety.

Most importantly, bringing innovative thinking, fresh ideas and a common sense approach to policing in Dorset.

I have a clear vision for Dorset Police.  I want to meet as many people as possible before November 15th, to listen to your concerns and ascertain your priorities.  If I’m elected PCC, you should expect to see me regularly, be able to contact me to express your opinion and feel confident your opinions will be properly represented to Dorset Police.
