Mark John Young

As a dedicated community safety campaigner, I am standing as an independent because I want to take the politics out of policing.

My pledge is to put the people of North Wales ahead of party politics and represent you without fear, favour or politics.

I am the “ready-to-go” candidate and have the ideal background as the Chair of the Safer North Wales Partnership Board which means I already work with North Wales Police and other key partners.

Other relevant experience includes being Denbighshire County Council’s lead member for Safer Communities, Public Protection and Domestic Abuse, as well as being Chair of Denbighshire’s CCTV partnership.

As a businessman and co-founder of the award-winning Denbigh Chocolate Shop, I am aware of the importance of value for money and ensuring every penny is spent wisely.

MY AIMS

• Ensure North Wales is a safer place to live and work

• Support visible community policing

• Combat county lines drugs gangs, modern slavery and child exploitation

• Provide more resources to fight cybercrime and fraud

• Hold the Chief Constable to account to ensure North Wales Police is run efficiently and effectively

• Set up a youth engagement group to give a voice to young people in North Wales

• Encourage improved equality and diversity within North Wales Police to better reflect the community it serves

• Work with key partners to provide support for vulnerable people with mental health issues

• Ensure victims of crime are fully supported and empowered to speak up

• Reduce the Force’s carbon footprint by introducing a raft of green initiatives
